How the work was done before
Bills of entry came in varying formats, many scanned. They were reconciled to POs and invoices by hand. Customs-compliance checks were a periodic manual exercise.
What IRAME runs
| Control | Example |
|---|---|
| Bill of entry to purchase order | Each line is matched to the item and quantity on the PO. |
| Bill of entry to invoice | Values are matched to the supplier invoice, line by line. |
| Duty and import cost | Duty paid and import costs are checked for variances against the documents. |
| Scanned documents | GenAI reads bills of entry in any format, including scans, and extracts their fields before matching. |
What it found
- Duty and import-cost variances, each with drill-down evidence attached.

Who runs it day to day
The check runs as a continuous control. Each variance goes to the import process owner with its evidence; the response is kept with the exception. For a US importer, the same check applies to customs entries, invoices and duty paid.
